The recent news on the internet confirms that the Akula 310 Concept from the Auto Expo 2016 would be named as Apache RTR 300 for the production version. The motorcycle would then act as the flagship Apache machine with the most advanced yet lightweight approach of motorcycling for the company. Apache RTR 300 is expected to be launched in India by the end of this year or in early 2017, with an expected ex-showroom price tag of INR 2,00,000.
The carbon fiber body of the concept version would not be carried to the production version while it will keep it's sharp and attractive overall body structure. The motorcycle will get its power from the same 310 cc engine of the G310R, producing 33.6 BHP @ 9500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque. The motorcycle would support a fully faired body type and improved aerodynamics for a better drive.
The motorcycle rides on thick 120/70-17 front tyre while the rear tyre has been kept 160/60-17. It will be equipped with safety equipment like ABS while its best concept bike at the Auto Expo can easily be changes to the best production motorcycle of the year. The chances of carrying the USD forks are less as TVS would have to cut many of the premium features from the bike.
Akula translates to shark in Russian language and the body design is said to be inspired from a Shark. The production version will gain a lot of basic equipment like the rear view mirrors, pillion seat, guards and front and rear headlights. The expected price for the newcomer is around INR 2 lakh, with TVS offering the same old reliability and expert maintenance options.
