Renault Kwid has turned out to be a real success. The small 800cc hatchback has really turned out to be game changer for Renault. The company which barely managed to sell 4001 units in April 2015, has becoming the 4th largest carmaker in April 2016 with 211% increase in sales figures!
Renault overtook the sales of Honda last month by selling 1444 units more than the Japanese giant. While Honda managed to sell around 10,982 unit, Renault churned out 12,426 units in the same month.
Thanks to the Kwid, Renault's fortunes seemed to have overturned. The company's sales are expected to carry on with the same momentum given the huge numbers of Kwid bookings, however it may have to face some serious competition with the launch of the Datsun redi-GO.
As of now, the Renault KWID is powered by a 3-cylinder, 799 cc petrol motor which produces 53.2 BHP and 72 NM of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Kwid 1.0-liter and the Kwid AMT variants were showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, are expected to launch in the coming months.
