Toyota must be proud of its production Corolla Altis as it is the bestselling executive sedans presently. Corolla Altis even exceeded the sales of Skoda’s Octavia in the year 2015-16.
The current-gen car launched in India in 2014 is popular because of its youthful design and now Toyota will add icing on the cake by introducing the mid-life facelift which will be launched in India in 2017.
Earlier this year, Corolla was revealed only in pictures and has been shown in metal only in Russia. Pictures revealed it completely that Toyota is opting for a more bolder look on the facelift. The front styling has undergone changes and now have a narrower grille, wider headlamps, a kink at the base of the headlights. Pictures also reflect brilliantly detailed full-LED headlights which is not expected to be launched in India. A conventional xenon light and daytime-running LED arrangement can be found in the Indian version. Another head turning feature in the facelift variant would be redone front bumper which is equipped with neat new cut-outs for the fog lamps and larger central air dam.
The basic shape remains the same for the Corolla. The cabin has undergone some changes like the centre console has been revised and has got a larger 7-inch touchscreen. Toyota Touch 2 is a system which uses a high-strength glass face including drag and flick capability. The Corolla also gets an all new 4.2-inch multi-information display in the new instrument console for the trip computer. The climate control units are also new with circular air-con vents at the sides.
There are no other changes mentioned by Toyota and we can expect Corolla to continue to get its power from the 140 Hp, 1.8-litre petrol (with a 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT options). Also the pricing is expected to be in Rs 13.5-18.5 lakh range (ex-showroom, Delhi). It seems Toyota has made all the desired and much needed changes in its premium Corolla to further distance its competition.
