India's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki has hiked the prices of its recently launched products Baleno and Vitara Brezza by upto INR 20,000. The changes are applicable from 1 August 2016. The reason for the hike is said to be the strategic objectives as well as the segment demand by the company.
Baleno now starts with a price tag of INR 5.25 lakh while the top spec trim now costs INR 8.36 lakh. It is the third hike in the Baleno prices from the date of its launch whereas it is the first one for the Vitara Brezza, which now comes within INR 7.19-9.88 lakh.
Maruti recorded a highest ever sale of 125,778 units in India while the export numbers are not added into this figure. The company is trying its best to clear out the 6-9 month waiting period for these cars while the launch of Ignis has also been postponed due to this factor.
