Tata Motors has increased the prices of all the variants of its recently launched Tiago hatchback. The prices have been hiked in the range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 8,000. At the time of launch in April 2016, Tiago was priced between Rs. 3.2 lakh and Rs. 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Looking at the sales in July 2016, Tata Motors could sell 13,586 units in India. Out of these units, 5,114 units were of the Tiago hatchback. For now, Tiago is Tata's best-selling car and has contributed to around 38% of its monthly domestic sales. The bookings count has touched the 40,000 mark and the car has got a waiting period of around 4 months.
Tata has revised its production cycle in order to minimize the waiting period. The Tata Tiago comes in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit that generates out 84 BHP and 114 NM of torque. On the other hand, the diesel is a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder mill that can develop 69 BHP and 140 NM. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Tata Motors is expected to increase the prices of the Tiago again before the festive season sets in.
