Taking a cue from this, UK based De La Rue - Worlds largest passport maker has come out with a plan that will turn our smartphones into paperless passports. The project is already in progress, users will need to install an additional piece of hardware on their phones to securely store the digital passport.

Once this technology comes to practical use, the risk of losing your passport will completely eliminate but the potential risk of losing your smartphone, or getting hacked needs to be taking into consideration.
