Tata has finally launched the Tiago hatch. Priced aggressively at INR 3,20,000, this car definitely has the potential to restore some of TATA's lost glory.
The car has had a rough ride since it was first revealed, being renamed from Zica to Tiago, and postponing of the launch date from January to March.
The Tiago is powered by the Revotron engine, designed particularly for the Tiago and the Kite5 sedan. The petrol rig churns out 84 bhp and 115 NM torque, while the diesel rig produces 69 horses of power and a torque of 140 NM. The transmission duties are handled by a 5 speed gearbox in either set-up.
Both engines are very fuel efficient offering an ARAI certified mileage of 23.84 km/l and 27.28 km/l for the petrol and diesel variant respectively. Tata is also planning an AMT variant.
Dimension-ally, the car measures 3746mm in length, 1647mm in width and 1535mm in height. It stretches across a wheelbase of 2400mm and offers a ground clearance of 170mm. The fuel tank capacity lies at 35 liters.
The top variant of the car features top-of-class gizmos such as 8 speaker audio system with smartphone integration, day-night IRVM, corner stability controlm rear wiper etc.
The car sits between the Nano and the Bolt and is all set to lock horns with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, the Maruti Celerio, and the Hyundai Grand i10.
The car is available in 5 variants XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ.
