As per the orders of the Supreme Court, the Indian automotive market has lead to discontinuation of BS3 compliant engine bikes in the Indian market. Most the companies have updated their models with BS IV compliant engine models and sold BS3 models before 31st March of last month.
As a result of this change, Yamaha no more sells the BS3 enabled R3, also the model is yet to get a BS4 engine update, but the model is well in the pipeline. Meanwhile Yamaha R3 has been completely removed from display on the company's official website. The BS4 version of the bike was showcased at Bangkok motor show and is sure to make it to the Indian markets as well. There will be no change in the technical specifications of the bike however.
The previous model was priced at an ex-showroom cost of INR 3.26 lakh and the new model is likely to see a price hike for the same. The Yamaha R3 is powered by a 321 cc engine which generates a maximum power of 41.4 bhp @ 10750 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 29.6 Nm @ 9000 rpm. The bike has a 14 litre fuel tank and runs on 6 speed manual transmission.
