Today, June 1 must have been the much awaited day for Maruti Suzuki as they will resume their operations at their Gurugram plant. A huge fire broke out at their AC compressor supplier M/s Subros Ltd at the Manesar plant on May 29. Due to this the operations were completely stopped at both the Gurgaon and Manesar plants.
Maruti has announced that casting and transmission manufacturing will begin again from June 1 whereas it may take another few days for full operations to resume. For now, Maruti will be finding out alternative ways with Subros for supply of components from other plants to resume its production as soon as possible.
As per a statement by Subros they would be supplying MSI and all its other customers from its plant in Noida. In his statement to PTI, Subros Ltd Chairman Ramesh Suri said, “We have already started the process to resume supplies. We have facilities at Noida and Greater Noida as well as collaboration with Denso. We are looking at all options. Dispatches from other facilities will begin in a day or so,".
He further said: "We are also working to bring back the (Manesar) facility back to production as soon as possible. We are trying to bring it back in the same position as earlier in the shortest time possible."
