The Delhi government has planned to restart its radical odd-even formula, April 15 onwards. The scheme will again follow a short duration of 15 days, commencing on April 15, 2016 and ending on April 30, 2016.
The previous time this scheme was implement, Delhites noticed a considerable reduciton in traffic jams and unnecessary chaos. However, the scheme's success in bringing down pollution levels could not be ascertained. Therefore, this time the Delhi government plans to install air quality monitoring setups to assess the quality of air during the second run of the scheme.
Commenting on the same, Rai said, “When the odd-even scheme returns in April, the air quality will be monitored even in NCR towns. The decision has been taken to assess how different is the air quality in areas where the odd-even scheme is not in place in comparison with the air quality in the Capital during the same period.”.
The list of vehicles excluded from this scheme will also be revealed around April 8. The government also plans to re-hire ex-servicemen to help in supervision during the second run of the odd-even formula. Rumors say that the scheme will not be entailed on two-wheelers because public transport can't cope up with so much burden. All smoke surrounding the odd-even scheme will be cleared by April 8.
