Lamborghini is working on to launch a facelifted version of its Aventador coupé and roadster models. The updated Aventador will undergo significant changes at the rear in the form of new rear wing and complex aerodynamic layout. However, the front of the car is expected to have only minor changes. So, this means that the exterior changes will bring more downforce for the 2017 model.
As of now, there have been no official statements by Lamborghini regarding the modifications in the powertrain of the car. But reports claim that the Aventador’s naturally aspirated V12 engine could receive a power boost slightly. The current model has a 6.5-litre unit which produces 699 Hp but the 750 Hp output of the super-hot Aventador SV model shows the great scope that horsepower can be increased for the regular model.
Since the carmaker is planning to adopt hybrid technology to enhance efficiency so it may be possible that the 2017 Aventador could be Lamborghini’s last series-production unassisted V12 model.
The Aventador’s successor may also hit the markets by the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. Lamborghini says that it will continue with the naturally aspirated V12s till the change is really necessary.
