Hyundai recently unveiled their 2017 Verna hatchback in China. It would be sold with the name Verna RV while its expected market launch is by January 2017. A Chinese publication even reports that it will be available in 5 trims. Hyundai sells the Verna with the Accent Moniker in US and both 2017 Verna and Verna hatchback can be launched anytime next year in the US.
2017 Hyundai Verna was recently launched in China while the hatchback version uses the same interior and front fascia as the sedan version. However, India would only get the sedan version as i20 Elite is quite popular and it won't be possible to place the hatchback in our complex market slots.
China's Verna hatchback uses the same 1.4 and 1.6 petrol motor from the sedan, producing 100 HP and 123 HP respectively. The gearbox options include a 6-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic units. It shares the steering wheel with i20 while the 7 inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay is from the 2017 Verna sedan itself.
